It’s early Tuesday morning. I am on my way to my second drop off, before heading to work. I left the house enjoying the breeze, now I find myself in the middle of a thunderstorm. So sudden. What was a bright, smooth, breezy ride, is now a dark turbulent ride. My car appears to shudder with each pounding raindrop. My daughter is going to be late for school and me? Definitely late for work!On the outside- complete gloom. On the inside? Quite the contrast. You see, I have my radio on one of my favorite radio stations- KLOVE. The song playing is, “Call It Grace” by Unspoken. What an amazing song. I am singing along. In the background, in the midst of all my singing, I manage to hear my five year old singing also. She is really into it and seems to know the lyrics. She sounds so cute. I continue to sing along, focusing on the lyrics, allowing myself to get lost in the peace.
I reach back to touch my daughter’s hand. I want her to experience the peace and I want to feel close to her. She seems to be just as involved. How wonderful! I was not the least bit worried.
Despite the turmoil on the outside, on the inside I- we were overwhelmed by peace- a peace that surpasses all understanding (Phil 4:7).
This, to me, is a metaphor for Life. Just as in life, situations can turn quickly. One moment you’re feeling the sun in your face, the next-there is not a ray of sunshine in sight Instead, we find ourselves in the midst of a thunderstorm; unable to control the situations that engulf us.
My takeaway: Rather than let those storms of life throw me into complete panic, Let me turn my attention to God and His Word and allow it give me peace.
